Florence's Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), which is applied to the entire historic centre, refer to areas of the city for which there are special rules for access, circulation and parking; there are electronic gates to border these areas and for the automatic detection of license plate numbers. Piazza de' Nerli is located just outside zone O, so it can easily be reached by car.
However, it is important you know when the ZTL is active; all year for zone O from Monday to Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; from the first Thursday in April to the first Sunday in October, the summer ZTL is active at night (Monday to Wednesday from 7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday from 7.30 a.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday; Friday from 7.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday; Saturday from 7.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Sunday).
The ZTL is bordered by a series of access gates which, in addition to being indicated by special signs, are controlled by telematic doors which automatically detect the plates of all the vehicles passing through.
For information on access to the ZTL, please contact our information office or consult the appropriate section of the website of the Municipality of Florence.

Parking in the first part of the square is subject to a fee (blue stripes), while in the second part they are only for residents (white stripes).
